Product Description
Ferrous Fumarate FCC is used as an iron-fortified food supplement. fcc grade meets the requirements of the Codex Alimentarius Chemical Directive for all food, beverage and nutritional supplement applications.
Ferrous Fumarate FCC powder is an odorless reddish-orange to reddish-brown powder that may contain soft lumps and produces yellow streaks when crushed. This powder is used as a nutrient and dietary supplement. Ferrous fumarate is a good source of iron and is often used in foods that can mask their red color. It is commonly used to fortify breakfast cereals, poultry stuffing, fortified flours and instant beverages.

Ferrous fumarate (II) is a chemical used to treat iron deficiency. More commonly used for this treatment is ferrous sulfate, but iron (II) fumarate does maintain a similar absorption profile.
Ferrous fumarate is the ferrous salt form of fumarate. One of its most important applications is as an iron supplement for the treatment of iron deficiency and anemia. Ferrous sulfate drops or a single daily dose of microencapsulated ferrous fumarate spray plus ascorbic acid have been shown to be successful in treating anemia without significant side effects. However, recent studies have also shown that ferrous fumarate causes the highest incidence of adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal erosive mucosal damage and nausea, vomiting and epigastric discomfort when compared to other iron supplements.
Brown to reddish brown powder; §184.1307d(a) Ferrous fumarate (iron(II) fumarate, C4H2Fe04) is an odorless, reddish-orange to reddish-brown powder. It may contain soft lumps that produce yellow streaks when crushed. It is prepared by mixing a hot solution of ferrous sulfate and sodium fumarate.
Ferrous fumarate is used as a syrup and can be used to treat and prevent iron deficiency in children.
Ferrous fumarate is a reddish-orange to reddish-brown powder that is a source of iron. It is highly bioavailable and can be used in foods that can mask the red color. It contains approximately 33% iron. It is used as a dietary supplement in breakfast cereals, poultry stuffing, fortified flours and instant beverages.Iron (II) fumarate is used as a dietary supplement, nutrient, source of iron in foods and drugs, animal feed additive and infant formula.
Anhydrous salt of a combination of ferrous iron and fumaric acid, stable, odorless and essentially tasteless. Reddish brown anhydrous powder, 33% Fe by weight, does not melt at temperatures up to 280C, insoluble in alcohol, very slightly soluble in
Dissolve sodium carbonate (53.5 lbs. Na2CO3-H2O) in water (40 to 45 gallons) and slowly add fumaric acid (50 lbs.). Stir and heat the solution during the addition process. The resulting pH 6.8 solution of sodium fumarate is slowly added to a pH 3.3 solution of ferrous sulfate (118 lbs FeSO4-7H2O in 33 gallons of water), both solutions being maintained at or near the boiling point during mixing. The resulting red-brown anhydrous ferrous fumarate slurry was filtered and washed in a centrifuge and dried in a tray drier (15 h at 110°C). Yield: 63 lb, 86% of the theoretical value. Calculated as FeC4H2O4: Fe, 32.9%. Found: Fe, 32.6%. Only 0.2% of trivalent iron (Fe+++) was found.
Ferrous fumarate is a commonly used inexpensive substitute for other forms of iron, that is employed as a food iron fortificant.
Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.
